Privacy policy
No data collection.
Paperings collects no personal data, uses no analytics and contains no tracking or advertising. Nothing is sent to the developer.
Where your data lives
Your papers are files you save where you choose, on your Mac or in iCloud Drive. If you use iCloud, Apple stores and syncs them under your Apple Account, and a paper you share is available to the people you invite. The People library, settings and code environments are stored in the app's folder on your Mac (Application Support).
When Paperings goes online
Only for what you ask of it. Looking up a DOI, PubMed ID or ISBN sends that identifier to doi.org, Crossref, the US National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) or Open Library. Running code downloads Python, R and their packages from their public sources (GitHub, PyPI, CRAN, Posit Package Manager, jsDelivr, r-wasm.org); code you run yourself may contact any address it names. These services receive your IP address and handle it under their own privacy policies.
Updates
Once a day, Paperings asks downloads.nikolasschrader.com whether a new version exists. The request carries only the app's version. Amazon CloudFront delivers the answer and processes your IP address to do so; no access logs are kept. You can turn the check off in Paperings under Settings, About. Downloading Paperings from this website is covered by the site's privacy policy.
Legal disclaimer
Paperings is provided as is. You remain responsible for the content, analyses and citations of your documents; check exported files before you submit them. The developer accepts no liability for errors in calculations, formatting or citations, or for the loss of documents. Keep backups of your work.
