Baby Porsche *customized

Every child, and even some adults, loves a ride on car with clashing colors and flashing lights.

Given Porsche’s reputation for high performance and luxury, the Baby Porsche was the perfect base for my custom project. As a bonus the red Porsche can be bought with a lighting system (front and back), which can be activated via the touch of a button and can deactivate itself after ten minutes (Baby Porsche with Lighting).

As an emergency physician, I wanted to create a unique emergency doctor’s car for my daughter. At first I solely added a custom neon yellow car wrap and a reflective “NOTARZT” (emergency physician) sticker to look like a real emergency car (*NEF or *Notarzteinsatzfahrzeug in Germany).

Although it looked quite well, I felt it needed something more: Front strobes. So I bought two of these (Xpro3 Blitzmodul).

The main challenges were power supply and operation.

Electric advancements for front strobe support.

The car’s 6V system couldn’t support the 12V strobes, so I added an 8×1.5V battery array. At first I thought about adding a separate switch for the operation of the strobes independently of the lighting system. To maintain the clean aesthetic and expand the 10 minute auto off to the strobes, I used an electrical relay to integrate the strobes with the car’s existing lighting system, even though it meant sacrificing one backlight for power.
